CHAPTER 4

Authors Pov:

After she hit send, she stared at the screen
"It was you"

Three words.
One quiet storm.

No typing bubbles.
No reply.
Just her, under her blanket, holding her phone like a heartbeat.

She whispered to herself,
"Why did I say that? Was it too soon? Too much?"

But somewhere... she wasn't scared.
She was light. Soft
Like something heavy had just floated away.

And then
He started typing.

Aaradhya's eyes widened, fingers trembling slightly.
Reyansh: "What?"

Just that.
One word.
Her heart skipped.
Was he shocked? Confused?
She didn't know how to read it.

But she stayed honest.
"Yeah... it was you."

Then his text came.
"But what's even good in me?"

She stopped.
Her fingers hovered.
She thought of what to say.
Yeah... what was good in him?

He wasn't a movie hero.
He didn't write poems.

But then,

She remembered something.
Her own reflection.
Not in the mirror.
In his eyes.

How he used to look at her. Like she mattered.
Like she was someone worth seeing.

And how his smile...
felt like a quiet celebration just for her.

She typed slowly:
"The way you looked at me."
"Your smile."
"I don't know... just you."

He replied:
"Really?"

She smiled.
"Yes."

She saw the typing dots.

He was about to say something.
And maybe she was ready to hear it.

But then,
"Aaradhyaaaa! Lights off Now!!"
Her mom's voice cut through the moment.

She sighed.
Fingers flew fast.
"Maa's calling. I gotta go. Byee :)"

She waited a second, he replied with a
"Goodnight :)"

That was it.

No "I like you too."
No big drama.
Just... a peaceful pause.

She went to bed that night, hugging her pillow.
Her face buried in it.

Blushing like crazy.

He said she was his first crush.
And now he knew... he was hers too

The next morning, Aaradhya stormed into school like a girl on a secret mission.
She spotted Avni near their usual bench, grabbed her hand, and dragged her to
 sit down without a word.

Avni blinked at her, already suspicious.

"What happened? You've got that look on your face."

Aaradhya didn't say anything. Just smiled... that awkward smile that refused to stay hidden.

Avni narrowed her eyes.

"Wait. Don't tell me, don't you dare! That tuition guy texted you?! And you didn't tell me last night?!"

Aaradhya giggled, biting her lip.

"Hehe... I was about to, but..."

"No excuses! Spill it. Now. You're blushing. And that blush is not from just a text. What else happened, huh?"

Aaradhya leaned in, whispering about the late-night conversation. About their conversation. About everything.

Avni's jaw dropped dramatically.
"Wait, what?! His first-first crush, was YOU?! Aree AARUUU! That's why your cheeks are on fire today! Aye hayeeee!"

Aaradhya laughed shyly.

Avni gasped,
"Okay then?! What happened next? Did he say anything more?!"

Aaradhya sighed,
"Nothing... Mom called. Lights off. Conversation ended."

Avni groaned, falling back dramatically.
"Uff! Mummas. Always know how to ruin the best moments. Okay okay, then text him again today!"

But Aaradhya shook her head,
"No yaar. Did you forget? Exams start tomorrow."

Avni paused, then groaned louder.
"Ughhh! What a horrible timing! Now I have to wait for the suspense update until exams are over?!"

Aaradhya giggled.
"I promise, you'll be the first to know what happens next."

"You better!" Avni grinned.
"So? At least tell me, have you started studying?"

Aaradhya gave her a sheepish smile.
"Nope."

And just like that, they slipped back into their school routine, mock tests, syllabus panic, late-night calls filled with sighs and complaints.

But inside that routine, something small had changed.
Something soft.

And it was waiting to bloom, right after the exams.

For some people, a first crush is just a memory.
But for others...
It's something unforgettable.
Because sometimes, what makes it special...
is knowing you were their first too.

That feeling?
It lingers.
Softly, deeply... quietly.

Until next chapter, my loviessss
